Microchip Technology MGC3140 3D Tracking and Gesture Controller

Microchip MGC3140 3D Touch and Gesture Controller is a single-chip solution that enables 3D gesture control in automotive products such as remote controls, wireless speakers, and radios. Developed using GestIC® Technology, the MGC3140 detects gestures using E-field sensing.

MGC3140's on-chip gesture recognition eliminates the need for additional processing, reduces system complexity, and speeds development time. The on-chip detection feature recognizes gestures, touch events, approach, and x/y/z 3D positions. The gesture suite allows the MGC3140 to recognize gestures when the rest of the system is in power-saving mode or powered down.

The integrated GestIC Technology Colibri Suite uses the Hidden Markov Model for high recognition rates of a wide range of gestures. This model detects subtle differences between deliberate gestures and general hand movements, and limits response to unintended gestures.
